    Hi Peldon

It’s an external site with a separate login, so yep, you need to create an account.

    Hi Caitlin

If you use the same profile pic across your accounts, we’ll know it’s you.

With regard to managing privacy on the wiki: I’m not really sure why this would be an issue, or rather, why it would be different from any other space. If you’re really concerned, you can use a pseudonym there too. It’s pretty innocuous content though – just some definitions – so I wouldn’t be too concerned.

If you have privacy concerns, feel free to contact me by email and we can discuss.

    Hey Sarah

We’re definitely not ogres, and I wouldn’t ever let you be disadvantaged because of a technical or other problem outside your control. You’ll see, for example, that I’m giving everyone an extra week on the Week 3 activity because I only got the materials up tonight, and my aim is for you to have them a week in advance.

Ah I’m so jealous of the multilingualism! The twins are bilingual and I think it does something amazing to their brains… Although we are noticing some impact on Issy’s reading. Five nights out of 14 they’re in a house where they only speak Spanish and sometimes I can see their brains ticking around words when they come home. Seba will often call out in Spanish during the night.

I think you’ll find this unit interesting, given your background, and I’m looking forward to any insights you can offer about other GLAM contexts!

    Empathy is a good superpower.

I’m a chronic nurturer. I can relate to wanting to fix things for people. I think it might be a common trait in this profession.

The memory for song lyrics and actors would make you a great addition to any trivia team!

Reinvention and adaptability are great skills/aptitudes in this profession, because the work is constantly evolving. And aligns perfectly with your interest in working in all kinds of libraries.

    Welcome Georgia!

If you use GoodReads, you’re welcome to follow me! I’ve read so little in the last two years (I probably haven’t read an entire novel in two years) courtesy PhD and crazy work schedule but I’m trying to push myself to get back into reading. Hoping to shame myself into it by extending my network on GoodReads 😉

That would be a cool superpower… I’d love to be able to see where a piece of art has been, for example, and the things it has witnessed.

We have so many artists and art lovers in this cohort. It’s fantastic!

I am obsessed with productivity and time management. I agree with Stacey – parenting has made me a much more efficient time manager (although our atypical family structure means there are more people parenting, and therefore I’m not under as much time pressure as most mums).  So maybe the lesson is: have a baby; get better at managing time?! On a more serious note, you might find this story I created on my tips for being a time management ninja useful.

A background in speech pathology will be incredibly useful particularly if you do end up working in public libraries. In my last library gig, the library services used an approach to storytime developed by a local speech pathologist. In fact I used to get her in to guest lecture in the precursor to this unit… It was great to have a framework based on research and to see an emphasis not just on literacy but also on speech and vocabulary development.

Six kids sounds intense but wonderful. I can’t imagine getting to a point where I knew I wasn’t going to have any more kids. Every new developmental stage is amazing… I’m fascinated by watching them learn and grow and seeing their personalities evolve. I can see myself ending up with a tribe as a result!
