Background
This unit is designed to allow you to critically explore a range of issues and trends related to design, development, deliver and evaluation of information programs and products.
Overview
There are two parts to this assignment:
- Activities (90 marks)
- Participation (10 marks)
Detailed requirements
Part 1: Activities
You will complete an activity every week from Week 3 onwards. There are two types of activities.
Theory and practice weeks (20 marks)
In Weeks 4, 6, 8 and 10 you will complete a short quiz based on the learning resources.
Each quiz will have five questions, each worth one mark.
Types of programs, products and services weeks (70 marks)
In Weeks 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12 and 13, you will complete an activity related to the weekly topic in six out of the seven weeks.
In one week of your choice, you can use a ‘get out of jail free card’ and skip the activity.
You must complete one of each of the following activity types: argue a point; program review; service review; Twitter chat champion; issues-based reflection; trends reflection.
Marks for activities
Your first three activities will be marked out of 30 and your second three activities will be marked out of 30.
Timely submission incentive
There are also a further 12 marks for timely submission. The intention is to get you to contribute your posts close to the time we cover the topic but to give you flexibility to submit later if you wish.
Yes, I said 12 marks! And if your maths is better than mine, you’ll know there are only 10 marks left for this part of the assignment. That means there is a total of 72 marks up for grabs rather than 70.
Here’s how the sliding scale works:
- Submit by the end of the nominated week: 2 additional marks
- Submit by the end of the following week: 1 additional mark
- Submit after the end of the following week but before the next checkpoint: 0 additional marks
Option 1
Actively participate in the Twitter chat for the week and write a 500 word reflection on what you learnt. You will be marked on your reflection.Option 2
Alternatively, if you do not want to participate in the Twitter chat (which would be a really big shame!), you need to- devise three questions on the topic for Kate to pose in the chat (you must send these to Kate the day before the Twitter chat)
- review the tweets after the chat
- write an 800 word reflection on what you learnt from reviewing the tweets from the Twitter chat.
Part 2: Participation (10 marks)
Participate in the online learning community by participating in Twitter chats, tweeting during the week, commenting on your peers’ forum posts, helping each other, and answering questions in the forums.
To pass this part of the assignment, you must make at least two comments or tweets a week or engage in two other interactions (e.g. answering a question on the forum).
