      Who am I?

In a former life I was a lawyer, practising in London and in Sydney, specialising in music, copyright and entertainment law.

Life intervened and I went to live on a beautiful island in the middle of the South Pacific and raise my family of 3 beautiful boys. While there was plenty of music all around me, island style, there was no music industry for me to practice law so I needed to find another “life”.

Fortunately, the University of the South Pacific’s School of Law was located close to home and I set up an institute for the School, publishing the laws of the 12 member countries of the University – PacLII (www.paclii.org) – the Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute. I loved it and loved the opportunity to do something no one else had done before – make the laws of their countries freely available to the people of the Pacific islands!

Once again life intervened and I found myself back in Australia, with my boys, looking for a way to build on my experiences once again. The Masters in Information Science seemed like a great way to update my skills and continue working with legal information.

I miss my island home but roll on the next phase of my life!

      My Superpower?

I think my superpower must be the ability to adapt to new circumstances. Reinventing yourself can be tiring but I love the energy at QUT, helping me to re-charge my powers!

I’m very grateful to all the teachers and students who have been so supportive and look forward to the challenges of this coming semester.

Hi Robynne, you’ve had such a full life so far! I daresay with all that legal experience, you would have no problem getting employment in some of the LIP/LIS specialties!
